Continuing Class

We have decided to extend the continuing class to another 6 week session instead of the 5 weeks we originally considered and we would like to give precedence to our current students before opening the class up to another Beginning group. The continuing group will definitely have the 4:30 time frame, and if there are more than 7 dogs, we'll make the 3 O'clock class "continuing" as well. So, please be sure to let us know today if you will be planning on participating in the next session.

Field Practice

For the next two weeks, the Agility Field at Ocean Song is open for you to enjoy a practice session on the equipment. Please call or email Creta (868-2064 or k-9@oceansongretreat.com)to set up a time for you and your dog to practice for a half hour slot.

Message from Liza

If anyone wants to know why I keep saying "We're doing this all backward". Here is world team coach Nancy Gye's blog about starting out her new border collie Scoop. Great Info about how much work and fun goes into training a world class agility prospect.

8-17 Class

This week we all got a taste of playing on the equipment and sequencing. Who was it more difficult for--the dogs or their handlers????? But, fun for all, except standing in the Arctic temperatures!!

August 10th Classes

Wow! our numbers grew this week quite a bit from last week with the addition of the 6 O'clock class and a couple new people to the 3 O'clock class. With that in mind, I wanted to remind you all about the field rules of no "toileting" on the field. I was permissive last class--but, from now on will not be. Please take your dogs off the field during a lax time to let them do their thing. Otherwise, you'll need to pay the Kitty--which will be in place on Monday. Also, to avoid any more confrontations--maybe practicing the sit, stay, release commands on the down times would be something to keep the doggies busy. All in all, I thought everyone did so well!! It's a lot of fun to see the dogs showing their "stuff"!!

Welcome new agility stars!
Wow, who knew Bolinas had so much agility talent! It was really great meeting all of you and your doggies. I think we have some great groups put together and hope to be teaching all of you how to play this great game with your dogs. I bet the hills are ringing with the sounds of clickers right about now, (or at least I hope so). Are your hand-outs making sense to you? Please contact me or post questions here. I learned a long time ago that if the question pops into your mind, it is there for a reason. So, hope you are practicing focus and playing with your dog.
By the way, if you're not doing anything this weekend, come on down to the Petaluma Fairgrounds to watch the AKC agility trial going on this weekend. You can see some really great dogs and handlers compete for titles! I'll be running Ring 2 and will be happy to train you how to set poles, leash run, time, gate, etc. The people are great, the dogs are happy and there are great vendors. Hope to see you there!

Taiko says hello too.
